When we think about colour, a lot of different things come to our mind. Colour is the most expressive form of our emotions, no matter the form of expression. We associate colours to our surroundings such as the lush green tree, the cute red house or the clear blue sky. We associate colours with our feelings and emotions, be it feeling blue or going green with envy. Colour is everywhere, and it is the first thing we connect with when we see something new.
So it is impossible to think that we can express fashion without colour. Our looks, sense of style, wardrobe is built around colour. And the way we dress ourselves each morning is also how we are ‘feeling’ a particular colour!
Today, though, we are going to focus on one such hue that is this season’s hottest colour! This shade is one of the latest fashion trends for girls in western wear. Yes, I am talking about Lime Green. Your mind immediately went to brightly coloured fruit and candy, didn’t it? Well, this bold shade is definitely taking over our lives and our wardrobe. Lime green has been everywhere this year. Where did it come from?
The eye catching colour was a huge trend in the middle of the 20th century. It was very popular in a pairing with raspberry pink! The colour was also seen a lot in the 90s. Not too surprising considering 90s are back!
This year’s Resort and Spring Runways have also seen a dash of the bold hue.
Not only the ramps, but lime green has a nod of approval by the Queen of Britain as well.
Now considering that we are neither walking ramps or ruling a country, how do we incorporate this bright colour in our wardrobe? Here are a few ways to do so:
Mix it in
Choose a regular piece of clothing like your basic denim or the fitted black trousers and add a lime green top to step into the trend. Mix the colour with wardrobe staples to incorporate the colour without going overboard.
If you are feeling edgy, wear lime green with leather pieces. A studded leather jacket thrown on top of a lime green shirt makes for the perfect edgy look.
You can also include the bold lime green shade in a feminine look. Combine it with white or pick a fit-n-flare dress that has prints in white and lime green.
If you are not feeling bold enough to wear a clothing item in this shade, pick an accessory. This will serve as a pop of colour against your neutral wardrobe. You can pick a lime green clutch or shoes to test the waters!
